Offshore Xmas
This year my parents had a strangely adventurous idea of spending xmas in both S'pore and Hong Kong. I spent the week leading to Xmas in the City of the Merlion doing some heavy shopping for winter clothing and getting some cheap bargains at that! Gosh, juz couldn't believe that I could get an Allen Iverson basketball sneakers for well below Rm200.
Anyway, I'm currently posting from the loud hustle and bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui (and to be more precise in the Business Centre of Holiday Inn, Nathan Road). It is the day before Xmas, Xmas Eve. The total number of people in Tsim Sha Tsui, according to a rough estimation is about 500k. The feeling here is so different from whatever u come to expect when ur in M'sia. I have celebrated Xmas in Japan and China, but NOTHING compares to this thus far. The joy and festive mood so clearly etched on the faces of the people here...not only shows such a strong bond of love and festive feeling for this old and now clearly long forgotten moment of bliss. Don't get me wrong. I'm not usually the sorry romantic for occasions such as these...as a matter of fact im usually quite sceptical of what good, if any, the celebration of Xmas Day will bring. Today, I'm proven wrong. Mark the day on your calendar folks : 24/12/2004 (Hong Kong).
Everywhere I walk, I see happy faces. Faces washed free of sorrow. The ride on the rather shaky and "normally would cause me nausea" ferry from Hong Kong Island to Tsim Sha Tsui , actually gave me the opportunity to witness a nice array of fireworks shot from the skyscrapers of Hong Kong into the dark oblivion of the sky. The laser works were simply futuristic art at its best!
I have to end here before I lose my composure and end up babbling endlessly about repetitive facts. I'm caught up in the Xmas Mania after all. I'm delirious. I'm INSANE and my spelling needs help...especially today!Hey, don't blame me! I juz can't get enough sleep!Well ,what the heck...if u can't beat them, join them! XMAS here I come! Woohoo......Open the champagne bottles love!
