Innerflame's Diaries: The edge of Sanity!
The past 2 days have been ntg short of heart pumping adrenalin. On Mon., while waiting to attend my best friend's b'day gatthering, I was downloading some stuff.
Suddenly, I was prompted to download the Windows Service Pack 2.I thought another new addition would not do much harm , right? Oh...boy...lil' did I know the harm & mayhem that it would have caused me.
At about 4.30pm, I finished downloading the updates. I knew I had to rush home immediately to avoid the traffic jams along the LDP. Thence, came the first omen of my utter misfortune which presumably was already sniggering beside some unknown mistic veil, waiting to lay siege on me! I left my computer on in the car while I was driving. Around Kelana Jaya, I was soon stalled by a massive traffic crawl. As I slowly cursed all that lay before me, my laptop was slowly making its own crawl towards its demise.
Only about 6pm did I finally reach my humble abode, weary and utterly spent. Then, I decided to reboot the laptop to make sure the new uploads are properly installed.
Upon restarting, the whole screen went blank and I could not even enter my windows. I have to admit, being a total noob, I was freaked out of my shorts. I was frantically making calls to calm myself.
"Oh...please....I'm sure someone knows how to solve this problem, won' t they?"
When I called Jeng, he gave me a very grim picture of my laptop's fate. He told me I had to reformat the whole damn thing! Jerad confirmed this initial finding. I was totally desperate and restless. The laptop contained all materials, study notes and clips, which I have dilligently collected for 2 years. Furthermore, it also meant I would have lost all my assignments which were due soon. My laptop's misfortune somehow had a very dire effect on my own!
I was totally manic. But, I knew I had to make it to the gatthering. At 'bout 8pm, I reached UM to fetch my friend to the restaurant (Pizza Uno). Tis friend however refused to believe that my laptop was beyond repair. He miraculously managed to switch it on and transferred some files into his computer.
As a result, by 9pm, we had left UM and reached the restaurant by 9.30pm with me feeling much more relieved. The conversation we had there was unwillingly centered around me although it was Fui's b'day. Shyang brought up some utter rubbish about me having a gf without telling the rest of the crowd there. (Groan....shouldn't such rumour mongering stop when we have left the confines of our nappies at high school?)
Consequently, my friends there felt that I had hid something from them and were subsequently quite crossed with me! (How can I any1 believe such poorly constructed story?) Sigh.....
For the record, I'm still (sadly) single, contrary to rumours circulating around! By 1am I was safely back in bed. However, b4 I had shut my eyes, I juz had to try my laptop out!
As I attempted to switch it on, the screen went blank again. Sigh.....
The next day, I had to make another trip back to UM & back to Fui's room. I had to really wait with utter anxiety before Fui finally got rid of the problem at around 9pm. That means it was 2 days of total insanity.
Who says holidays have to be boring?Wat did you do for ur holidays?
