I need a Baygon

I'm extremely vexed that rumour mongers do not stop hounding me. By nature, I reckon that I'm quite patient. But, the manner in which certain people conduct themselves is just beyond acceptance!
Spreading rumours without checking the authencity of each claim is a lie! If it is damaging enough, then it is defamation. Unfortunately, too many people among the ranks from my current small pool of 'friends' from the same college have a high tendency of illiciting personal private information from whatever sources they can find (which will probably rival those of a paparazzi) and then taking liberties with distributing them at their own will. THIS HAS TO STOP.
Let me put this bluntly. My friend, Weng, has been politely bringing about the issue. I can hardly be half as subtle. All of us from the god forsaken place we called college for 2 yrs DO NOT ENJOY each others company. That is a poorly hidden secret. But, what's the point going about trying to blemish another person's reputation? If someone else fails, does another gain? What happened to the mantra of the "win-win" situation.
Weng is right. We should be there for each other. But, perhaps some fellas among us take things too literally. I think what he meant was being there positively ie through mental or motivational support. I cannot possibly see that what he meant was being there to shovel whatever private information you can find and then distorting it before mass circulating it to the public.
It seems from Pek Hong's blog that she is facing a similar dilemma. That can only reassure me that the problem does not lie with me solely, but, perhaps with these irrisponsible people who just do not have the maturity to go straight to someone's face and to spell out their grievances. I have met many people that have come up straight to me and told me .. " Dude, I just can't stand your guts".
Many of this people gain my respect, maybe not for their candour, but at least not for being a hypocrite, and some of them have turned out to be my best friends.
On the other hand, rumour mongers can hardly deserve any1's respect especially NOT mine.
The primary source of a rumour is a pest, the agent who spreads the rumours is a tumour. I'm not surprised that the shallow minded souls shall willingly absorb such sensationalised stories and reproduce them at their whims and fancy. It is all they have got to do after all. It's their moment of glory in life. It's their destiny, or so they believe!
For me, this is especially an important article after my preceding one about friends. It only comes to show how rare real friends are!!
There r too much pests around these days...Damn I need a Baygon!!
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This article is not meant to be a general statement of feeling towards the whole bunch of people the author knows. I also recognise that this piece was written at a period of extreme vexation and any pointless ramblings are regretted for the general reader. This piece may also provoke some interesting comments which are duly welcomed. Say what you want and you shall be heard. But, do not hide under the veil of anonimity.

Weng: YES it is TRUE n YES it is SAD. This article was not written to be intended as a personal attack towards any1 but rather as a personal plea for a paradigm shift in thinking. Spreading rumours, be it with malice or not is definitely a sign of maturity at its lowest ebb.

Sharyn: YES ah ee...advise is very apt...trying my best to control my temper. Have been attempting to keep it in check for a very long time.
