Mighty pen

I'm fairly cynical when people keep saying that the pen is mightier then the sword. Please...please I'm sure you understand my reasons where in the modern world money speaks volumes (corruption), violence gets things done (terrorism) and dictatorship is the order of the day (Censorship Board). However, lately I've come to the conclusion that one man has proven me wrong: He is Prof. Azmi Sharom from the Law Faculty of University Malaya. His articles in the Star Newspapers speak highly of his courage to touch on sensitive and often controversial issues without fear and while maintaining his poise and rational arguments. Many lesser men have often resorted to more questionable methods to relay their message across the spectrum of the community. Some find the need to spread lies, some see the necessity of waving a kris while others jail bloggers and try to establish Mat Skoding squads. It is interesting how people try to change and spark a paradigm shift in society. Although the reach of his pen may be limited especially since it is not known how many people see the quite blatant message that he conveys from his well informed views (some choose to ignore while others simply are too daft/stubborn to WANT to see the message) but he has made me a fan! Truly I hope the day will come that the ones to be respected in society are not the ones with the fatter wallets or the handsome countenance but the one with the mighty pen.
